Raised in the Mississippi lands of debutante 'dos and summer sweating, Hannah Katherine Medley, 22, was exiled to the mountains of western Montana after high school. She attended the University of Montana, where she found time to explore the backcountry, wade in the winding rivers and experience some extraordinary people while earning her bachelor's degree in photojournalism. Kate devoted her past few summers to studying Spanish and exploring the rural life of Latin America through a Nikon lens. Last summer, Kate moved to Charlotte, N.C., where she joined the photo staff at the The Charlotte Observer as a summer intern. Following her time in St. Pete, Kate plans to move to Chattanooga, Tenn., and finish out the year as a photo intern at the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
