Lisa Hornstein (East of 34th)

Photography has been a passion of mine since middle school, when I realized the power pictures have on people; as photographers, we have a unique ability to see the world in our own way and share it with others. I have lived in Montana my whole life, most of it in Missoula, with two summers in Yellowstone National Park and one summer at my first internship, the Montana Standard, in Butte. In May 2004, I graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in photojournalism. After my summer with Poynter, my future is open — but in spring of 2005 I intend to hike the full length of the Appalachian Trail with my best friend Ashley. I will find my niche in the world to photograph life in the way God intends for me, but life sometimes takes a turn you never expect, and I'm excited to meet those challenges.
