Karen Sanborn

Karen Sanborn has spent the past four years of her tenure at the University of New Hampshire building a relationship with journalism. Many times, a journalistic assignment seemed to raise an incredulous eyebrow at her as if to say, "Dare ya." But mostly, journalism and Karen is content, as it presents endlessly fascinating challenges and she tries her best to meet them. Perhaps she was happiest during her semester-long internship at the Portsmouth Herald, a small local paper where journalism and Karen reaffirmed their commitment to each other through community-based stories. She loved meeting locals, whose roots grew deep into Portsmouth soil and who were fighting to keep the city’s classic New England charm. Down the road, she would like nothing more than to write stories and serial narratives that expose social issues and the people whom are affected by them. Karen feels nothing is more important than engaging readers, eliciting their emotions and challenging them to open their eyes and really see.
