Bill Miller, 69, has been a fisherman all his life. He grew up in St. Pete and learned to fish as a kid from his father. He used to fish for shrimp but nowadays he only catches blue crab.

Bill has about 120 total crab cages. Catching crab is often referred to as ghost fishing because the traps are baited and left immersed in the water for long periods of time. |

Bill sorts through his catch and tosses back the smaller crabs. Fisherman aren’t allowed to keep any blue crabs smaller than 5 inches in long. |

Once finished fishing, Bill sells his crabs to Savon’s Seafood located in Gulfport. |

Although holding other jobs during his life such as a bread delivery man, Bill has always been a fisherman. Nowadays it’s all he does. “Fishing to me is not a job,” he says. |
