Vincent Williams pauses to enjoy a beautiful St. Petersburg sunset. A longtime resident of the Old Southeast neighborhood, Vinney, as his friends call him, recently began a new job assisting at a local convenience store.

5-year-old Zeandre proudly shows a little muscle as he plays along the beach of Lassing Park in Old Southeast St. Petersburg. Zeandre, along with his older brother Demarco and his parents walk along the quiet beach every chance they get.

Lois Lukas works as a receptionist at the Salvador Dali Museum located in the Old Southeast neighborhood of St. Petersburg. “We have people come from all over the world.” Lois began as a volunteer , but for the past four years she has worked for the museum.

Matas Kuzmackis, 22, ponders a future in his new home. Originally from Lithuania, Matas, along with a younger brother and his Cambridge-educated mother, immigrated to the United States in search of greater opportunities.

Laura Lee lives on the second floor of a quaint home in the heart of St. Petersburg’s Old South East neighborhood. She currently works as a sports-writer for the St. Petersburg Times, but the lure of a faster paced city will soon take her to the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, California. The Times is owned by The Poynter Institute, which publishes this website.
