Brian Passey graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication and a minor in English from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. He was born in Cedar City, Utah, and grew up in Rexburg, Idaho, where he first discovered his love of journalism as a photographer for his high school yearbook. After beginning college as a photo major at Ricks College in Rexburg, Brian changed his major to journalism while working as the photo editor for the Ricks College student newspaper, The Scroll, and taking freelance pictures for the Post Register in Idaho Falls. Brian transferred to UI after obtaining an associate’s degree in journalism from Ricks and began working for the UI student newspaper, The Argonaut, as photo editor, news editor, and eventually, editor-in-chief. After attending Poynter this summer, he hopes to work as a reporter at a daily newspaper in the Pacific Northwest. He hopes to eventually find a job at a small or mid-size daily newspaper in a scenic area where he can make a difference through his writing and photography. |
