Christina Smith is a native of southeast Nebraska, where her journalism career began in high school, working as an intern at the Nebraska City-News Press as a reporter. She graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, in December of 2003. During her college career she worked for the school newspaper as a reporter, was a Chips Quinn Scholar at the LaCross Tribune as a copy editor and held two internships as a reporter for two magazines. Currently, she is a full-time reporter at the Des Moines Register. After studying at Poynter, she plans to return to the Register and continue growing as a reporter. Christina’s ultimate dream is to one day cover political events on a national level, maybe even take over Tim Russert's job on Meet the Press. |
